In public, this country definitely appears conservative. For a fairly conservative culture, Poland has earned a steamy reputation as one of the horniest countries out there. Poland has an annual Eroticon festival that showcases the latest and greatest sex toys and mechanisms in the adult industry. Even one of Poland's politicians was caught in a sex scandal. However, the most obvious evidence of Poland's hound-dog ways has to be the two Polish women who once held the world gangbang record, which they completed in their home country.

YouTube videos, sex, porn top children’s Internet searches

MELBOURNE - A new survey has revealed that watching YouTube videos, looking up “sex”, socialising and searching for search engines are the popular activities children perform on the Internet.


The survey conducted by computer security firm Symantec listed the Top 100 searches using the company’s tracking service OnlineFamily.Norton, which monitor’s children’s and teenager’s internet use.

It found that the most popular search term was Google-owned video-sharing hotspot YouTube, where children go for snippets ranging from Japanese anime and viral videos to dance routines and help with maths homework.

“Seeing YouTube on top is no surprise,” News.com.au quoted Symantec Internet safety advocate Marian Merritt as saying.

“Kids use YouTube as a starting place for entertainment as well as for education purposes,” Merritt said.

Another top search term, “Fred”, refers to YouTube videos of a fictional character popular amongst children.

Searches for “sex” came in fourth, just ahead of social-networking service MySpace and then “porn”, which was the sixth most common query.

“Any of us who have been teenagers are not surprised kids look for information about sex. I think we have all gotten over our shock that the Internet has porn,” Merritt said”

Symantec studied 3.5 million searches made by OnlineFamily.Norton service users worldwide between February and July this year.

The search term had to be submitted at least 50 times to make the list, according to CNet.com.

The online activity monitoring service does not secretly snoop. It announces its presence onscreen, and dispatches animated dog characters to warn children when they are heading for territory set as off-limits by parents.

Merritt sees the service as helping parents stay in tune with children as their lives move increasingly online.

She maintains that real-time online monitoring provides casual chances for parents and children to have “The Talk” about porn, sex, trusting strangers and other delicate topics.

Merritt said that OnlineFamily.Norton let parents see what their children were searching, plus “who they are instant messaging with, and what social networks they are on.”

Since its launch in April 2009, OnlineFamily.Norton has provided parents using the service with more than 90 million “teachable moments” with their kids, according to Symantec.

It is being offered free through the remainder of the year, and Symantec has yet to determine what it will charge for the service.

A survey of Melbourne women presented at an international mental health conference has concluded that females who suffer from mild to moderate depression have a third more sexual activity than those who are not.

They also had more sexually liberated attitudes, a bigger variety of sexual experiences and, if single, were more likely to partake in casual sex, Dr Sabura Allen, a clinical psychologist at Monash University, said.

Women want sex to beat depression - shock horror!

DEPRESSED women have more sex than those who are happier, regardless of whether they are in a relationship or not, a study of Australians has found.

A survey of Melbourne women presented at an international mental health conference has concluded that females who suffer from mild to moderate depression have a third more sexual activity than those who are not.

They also had more sexually liberated attitudes, a bigger variety of sexual experiences and, if single, were more likely to partake in casual sex, Dr Sabura Allen, a clinical psychologist at Monash University, said.

"It was more sex and more of everything from kissing to petting, foreplay and intercourse," said Dr Allen, who studied the recent sexual experiences of 107 depressed and non-depressed women who were in relationships.

"We knew this anecdotally from clinical samples but this is the first time it’s been shown in research."

She said depressed women were likely seeking out sexual intimacy more often to help feel more secure.

"When people are depressed they feel more insecure about their relationships and concerned that their partner may not care about them or find them valuable," Dr Allen said.

"Having sex helps them feel that closeness and security."

Asked whether intercourse could be an effective balm for depression, the psychologist said "we really don’t know but we presume it helps as it gives these women opportunities to be close to their partner and loved."

The team also is investigating depressed single women and has found a trend towards more casual sex than happier singles.

Dr Allen said Australian couples tend to have sex between once and three times a week, with "very much the majority in the once a week group".

Single women have it "significantly less", but the same is not necessarily true of single men.

The study, soon to be published in a British medical journal, was presented today at the International Congress on Women’s Mental Health in Melbourne where the latest research in mental illness and hormone-related conditions is being showcased.

New studies have shown high rates of severe PMS and post-natal depression among Australian women, a dramatic drop in the abortion rate, and a promising new treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

More than half of Australian women have difficulty getting sexual satisfaction

The survey found rates of sexual desire were similar to those shown in international studies, but Australian women appeared to have more problems with arousal and orgasm, said Deakin University psychology professor Marita McCabe.


"All up we found 55 per cent of women had a difficulty with sexual satisfaction," said Prof McCabe, who presented the data at a recent sexuality conference on the Gold Coast.


"It seems women go into the bedroom and expect it will happen quickly, automatically, with orgasm, even be multi-orgasmic, but without spending the time to do so.
"They're busy and stressed and not taking the time for their sexual expression."


The online survey questioned more than 400 women about their sex lives and sexual feelings, and found 65 per cent had some form of sexual dysfunction.
Half had a diagnosable sexual desire disorder, said Prof McCabe, who oversaw the study by PhD student Katie Giles.
Anxiety and depression were found to be contributing factors, but stress and poor body image had the biggest influence on sexual interest and response.


Prof McCabe said the results could help women feel that they are not alone, and that they can seek help.
Professor Jane Ussher, a women's health psychologist at the University of Western Sydney, said while she did not dispute the statistics, to label a quarter of the Australian population sexually dysfunctional was "not helpful".


"To talk about dysfunction implies some abnormality within the women," Prof Ussher said.
"And whilst many women do have issues around sexual desire, especially in heterosexual relationships, that is very likely to be about the relationship rather than the woman herself."
She said there was strong evidence to suggest women with low desire regained their interest in sex when they re-partnered.

Sex, infidelity, relationships & personal safety - what Australian women really think

SEX: Australian women are having sex – and lots of it. VOAW reveals most women are happy with their sex lives with almost half having sex once a week and only a third feeling the need to fake an orgasm.

Age is also no barrier to good sex: One in four women over 65 years report an active sex life.

INFIDELITY: One in seven women (15%) surveyed say they have had an extra-marital affair at some stage in their lives while one in four say they know - or suspect - their partner or husband of cheating on them.

LOVE & MARRIAGE: Women today are as romantic about marriage as they were in 1980. However, an astonishing 27% say that they would not or might not marry the same person again.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Almost one in five women (18%) has been physically abused by a partner and more than one in three (35%) has been emotionally abused yet only 30% of victims ever called for help.

Women can also be abusers: 7% admit they have physically abused a partner and 15% have been emotionally abusive.

PERSONAL SAFETY: An astonishing 25 per cent of women do not trust the police. Many Australian women have lost faith in the justice system and refuse to report a sexual assault – while 13% of Australian women have been raped – fewer than one in five reported this to the authorities. Four out of five women chose NOT to report the rape. A major reason is the belief that resorting to the legal system is too traumatic.
